Our philosophy
Over the past 5 years, many food retailers have introduced organic lines onto their shelves with much public support and uptake. However, along with the success of organic produce their prices have continued to rise on these products, taking them out of the reach of many people.

In 2005 we set out on two projects: to raise free range, rare breed Saddleback, Gloucester Old Spot and Large Black pigs to produce first class meat products and to make them available at a fair price.  Whilst we are not accredited with organic status, we raise all of our animals to the same or better standards. When the accrediting bodies drop their registration prices to an affordable level for the smallholder, then we may convert.  Until then anyone is welcome to visit our farm and see for themselves our open and honest approach to farming.

The pigs are fed on the best GM free feeds; kept in excellent living conditions; given freedom to roam over large open paddocks and sent to slaughter as and when they are in good condition, rather than being processed to just 4 or 5 months old in intensive systems.  We do not believe in innoculating and giving 'blanket antibiotics' to our animals, we only medicate if absolutely necessary. We can also guarantee that the carbon footprint of our pork is kept to an absolute minimum.  Our pigs have a guaranteed maximum of 61 food miles and all their feed is locally sourced too.  These farming methods minimise the stress to the animal and increases the quality of the end product whilst minimising the environmental impact.

Now in our sixth year,  we believe we have achieved what we set out to do and are ready to offer our product to people who not only have an interest in quality food, but also in how it arrives to them.  The next time you are doing your weekly shop have a read of the packaging, because unless it states it is British there is a good chance the animal has arrived from Australia, Argentina or South Africa

Mark Smith - A senior distribution manager for a worldwide distribution company for over a decade, I witnessed how our food was produced, manufactured, stored and moved around the world and I decided I wanted no part of it!  I am now self employed and concentrate my time on rearing first class animals to organic standards for both my own family and you, the consumer.  I beleive that the animals I raise live in the best possible conditions and I invite anyone who is interested in how their meat is produced to give us a call and come to see what we do, anytime.
